NC 4-H Congress Photography Contest

Entries must be submitted no later than June 8, 2012.

The NC 4-H Congress Photography Contest is open to all NC 4-H members ages 9-19.  There are two age divisions: Junior (ages 9-12) and Seniors (ages 13-19).  Participation is not limited to youth doing photography projects.  The three categories are:

  • 4-H in Action
  • Nature’s Beauty
  • Lines

You may only submit one entry per category, so you may submit up to 3 entries.  All photos must be taken by the 4-H’er during the contest year.  Photos may be in color or black and white.  The winners will be announced and displayed at 4-H Congress in July.

NEW THIS YEAR: In an effort to reduce costs to photo contest participants, we are eliminating the requirement that entries be submitted in print format. Instead, we encourage all participants to submit digital entries to rebecca_kirkland@ncsu.edu.

*If you submit an entry please copy Lauren Langley (4-H Agent) lauren_langley@ncsu.edu to receive recognition for participation.

  1. So excited about this contest for my daughter!!! What would qualify as 4H in action?

Do you think that you will have any photography camps over the summer? Also, where can I find out any programs in the Hampstead area? 4H was such a big part of my life growing up and I’d like my kids to be involved.

I look forward to hearing from you!

    • Thank you for your interest in this exciting 4-H contest! Here is the description for 4-H in Action:
4-H in Action: We’re looking for pictures that show us what happens at 4H events throughout the year. The key to winning this category is the action. We want to SEE what’s happening. If it’s a judging contest, we want to feel like we’re right in the middle of the action. If it’s meeting with legislators, then we want to feel like we’re so close we could shake that person’s hand. In other words, we want the photographer to get in close and show us what really happens when 4H’ers get together for an event or activity.

The summer camps have already been planned for this summer and we do not have any photography camps but I will keep that in mind while planning for summer 2013! To enroll your daughter in 4-H and learn more about 4-H in your area please contact me at lauren_langley@ncsu.edu or 910-259-1235.
      Thanks! Lauren
